Who doesn't love melty chocolate and flaky layers? This Valentine's Day dessert will have you weak at the knees. These puff pastry hearts make a great Valentine's Day dessert or even breakfast treat (I also love these strawberry shortcake donuts because they're pink!). Just a few ingredients, a few minutes in the oven and you'll be ready to enjoy.

Ingredients For Chocolate Pastry Hearts

You only need three simple ingredients to make this delicious dessert! Read and print the full recipe below, but here's what to gather:

  • Puff Pastry Dough Sheets (I use Pepperidge Farms)
  • Small chocolate pieces like Hershey's Kisses
  • Melted Butter

To Make This Recipe Vegan

You can easily make this a vegan valentine's day dessert! Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry is vegan which makes this dessert so easy to make vegan-friendly. Simply make sure you're using dark chocolate (double check the ingredients) for the inside and plant based melted butter. It's as easy as that!

How To Make Pastry Hearts For Valentine's Day

Gather your three ingredients, and follow these simple steps.

Hi Tori. If folks use puff pastry it won't vegan as standard puff pastry including the pepperidge farm is made with dairy (butter) to achieve the lamination. folks would need to make vegan puff pastry. these look fun to make for non vegans though!

This puff pastry is magic! I keep it on-hand in our deep freezer. It never fails to make me look like a culinary genius. At Christmas I made individual "Haute" pot pies with it. The kids love making their own "pop tarts" during fruit picking season. The best trick in the book? Cheese Straws!
