If you're a librarian, you might want to turn away. Kidding (well ... sort of).
If you have old books lying around (maybe in the garage or in storage) chances are you have some books that are too worn or damaged to read or pass on to others. Even though these books might not serve their original purpose any longer, there are ways you can re-purpose them into new things that are totally awesome. I love the texture and color of old book pages and recently used them as inspiration and key element when planning a book-themed baby shower. Also, can we talk about their smell? Mmmmm love it (is that weird?).
4 ways to re-purpose old book pages
1. As a backdrop
Attach old/damaged books to a piece of plywood to make a cool 3D book wall or backdrop. Here, I simply used a staple gun to secure damaged paper back books to the wood.
2. Book Pages as “wallpaper”
You can cover any type of surface using old book pages and a little Mod Podge glue (find this at your local craft store). Above I covered a cardboard letter that I then used as party décor. You could cover boxes or walls too – the options are endless!
3. Book Pages as Envelope Liners
Mailing invitations, thank you cards, or holiday greetings? Using old book pages as envelope liners adds a a nostalgic surprise when recipients open their mail. First, trace and envelope onto a book page to make a template. Then, insert into the envelope securing with a glue stick.
4. Book Pages as a Table Runner
Attach book pages together with glue (use Mod Podge for best results) until you have created a long “Strip” of pages that resemble a table runner. This adds a really interesting texture to any tabletop. Perfect for special occasions or even a book club gathering!
Now that I have you picturing all the cool book crafts and decor you're going to do... anyone needing any old books? I have plenty, come and get 'em!

I would love any extra books you have left over if you're willing to ship to Missouri =)
