Valentine's Day is the perfect time of year to brush off your dusty apron and get baking some cupcakes for your loved ones! Here are a few Valentine cupcake decorating ideas that are super cute, but not super complicated.
Valentine's Day is about the thought behind so why not try something new like one of these pretty Valentine's Day cocktails (or, maybe even some vodka soaked strawberries)?
Here are some of my favorite Valentine cupcake decorating ideas to try.
1. Powdered Sugar Heart
This idea is pretty simple. Cover the top of a cupcake with a paper heart and sprinkle some powdered sugar on top. Remove the paper to reveal the perfect heart shape! This idea is great for people who aren't a fan of frosting on their cupcakes.
I also like the idea of tying a ribbon around the base of your cupcake for some festive flair!
2. Conversation Heart Topper
This Valentine cupcake decorating idea is simple enough for anyone,. In fact, it's a perfect one to have your kiddos help with. Bake and frost your cupcakes and then with top with conversation hearts!
3. Fondant Roses
Again, a simple ribbon tied around the cupcake is such a simple touch. The roses on top might seem like an advanced decorating idea, but they are made by simply rolling colored fondant. Check out Bakerella for the simple cupcake decorating steps and make them yourself.
Cupcake Decorating Tip:
If you've read more of my easy dessert ideas, you'll know I'm all for a store bought shortcut. Like I did with these football cupcakes, for Valentine's Day I like to start with store bought cupcakes. That way, I can focus on the cute decorating ideas!
Which Valentine cupcake decorating idea will you try?

Thank you for the wonderful ideas! I just made a marshmallow fondant to create your beautiful rose topped cupcakes. I am hosting a Womens Valentine Celebration and Tea for our church. Also, thank you for the link to Bakerella, there are some amazing ideas there also! Looking forward to future ideas from your website! Thanks again.

I really like the top one with the powdered sugar. Very simple but looks delicious. The ones with the roses are gorgeous, too! Looks like it would be fun to do with kids. :)
