It seems that the more people you know, the more often you are buying cards and presents. For each friend or family member we have, we add a wide selection of special gift-giving occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, getting married, having a baby, going to college, or moving into a new home. Some holidays like baby showers are designed for the gift giver to offer practical gifts that can be used for that purpose. Other special occasions like weddings make it easy for us to buy practical gifts with registries that tell us exactly what our friends would like the most. Then there are those "unusual special occasions" that we never know what to buy. You know which ones I am talking about, the ones that you usually end up giving the "old flower" standby. My latest quandary is what to give someone who is moving. (other then flowers!)
- Moving to college?
- Moving because they are getting married?
- Moving because they bought a new house?
- Moving because they are having another child?
- A realtor giving a gift to a person who bought from them?
So that led me on a search to find a very thoughtful yet practical present to give to someone who was moving. My idea stemmed from being practical. I though, hmmm what do they need? After all, we give baby clothes to people having a baby (because they need them), so why not give moving boxes to people who are moving, right? That was my "aha" moment. Moving boxes...practical......thoughtful....and simple.
Why not give moving boxes and moving supplies to someone who is moving? Not particularly impressive, but oh so needed and appreciated. I came across a fabulous web site that offers moving boxes and moving supplies in a "moving kit." You click on the size of home you have and they recommend the right number of moving boxes and supplies with FREE SHIPPING. Yes, free- very cool if I say so myself. For example, for only $88, you can buy all the moving boxes and moving supplies a person needs to move a 2 bedroom home or apartment. All of the sizes are there, if you need a larger size or a smaller one. Then, have them shipped right to the recipient's door.Thoughtful and simple. I know if I was moving, I would totally appreciate this gift.

Flowers are nice, but remember, sometimes practical gifts are the most appreciated. Have you ever given or received something "practical" as a gift?
Try this gift out and be sure and let me know how your friends and family like it! I'm sold on this idea. Some times it's the little things, you know?

I would agree that moving boxes and supplies are wonderful gifts to give someone that is moving. They can cost a lot of money.
