These DIY coasters are so simple to make. In under 10 minutes you can make these color block coasters and jazz up your coffee table.
I love a good simple project. I also love anything that has to do with cocktail hour. These DIY coasters are a fun way to add a little color block-flair to your coffee table or bar cart.
Supplies for These DIY Coasters
- Blank coasters
- Craft Paints in 2-3 colors
- Washi or Painters Tape
- Paint Brushes
Step 1
The first step is to mask off areas of your blank coasters so that when you paint, you create geometric shapes. I went for triangles and stripes which I think turned out great.
Step 2
Choose 2-3 paint colors that work well together. I used white, mint, and gold. Paint the coasters in the desired areas. I had to do 2 coats for a solid coverage. This will just depend on what type of paint you are using. Paint it until you like the way it looks!
Step 3
Let dry for about 30 minutes before peeling off the tape. I had to give mine a couple coats of paint for that solid coverage. This will depend on what type of paint you use. But just paint until you are happy with the colors.
I loved how these turned out! And because the pack of coasters I bought had so many, I want to make sets and bundle them up for all my friends as gifts!
Ideas for DIY Coasters as Gifts
These DIY coasters would make thoughtful gifts. Tie up a set of 5 with ribbon or twine and give them as gifts for:
- Housewarming (you could pair with a set of cocktail glasses or bottle of champagne)
- Hostess gifts
- Holiday gifts (use holiday ribbon to tie them up)
- Party favors for a bridal shower or holiday party
