Looking to add a little festive flair to your table top? If you're looking for Cinco de Mayo centerpieces these are easy to make and they look really interesting on any table (even well after your backyard fiesta).
Depending on what day of the week May 5th falls on, sometimes we host a backyard fiesta or sometimes we just sit on the patio and enjoy a good margarita (you have to try these spicy fresh pineapple margaritas!) or a slice of semi-homemade tequila lime cake.
Regardless of the size of our gathering, I love making these small centerpieces because they really, they look cute all summer long on my patio table!
You can even make them as favors to give guests after the party, or bring along as a hostess gift if you are invited to a fiesta.
I picked up some inexpensive terracotta pots in various sizes, marked off some interesting shapes using painter's tape, and spray painted them with gold metallic spray paint (I'm obsessed with this stuff and keep finding reasons to spray paint things!). You can use any color you'd like but I am a fan of mixing the terracotta with the gold. Let them dry and you have the perfect centerpiece vessel!
Fill the newly painted pots with different varieties of cactus and you have yourself simple Cinco de Mayo centerpieces. I picked these small cactus and succulents up from our local home and gardening store, Lowes.
And you don't need to water them often which makes them great to leave on your patio after your celebration is over.

Thank you for the simple and elegant idea - haven't been able to find anything for a Mexican themed dinner party hubby & I are hosting this summer. So tired of flashy items i keep running into. Would love other suggestions.
