When I'm planning party food for a get together, I always try to serve a cold appetizers because they’re really easy to prepare and you don’t have to worry about keeping them warm. Cold appetizers are perfect for casual entertaining!
The base to these appetizers is a generous spread of Philadelphia Cream Cheese. I always have a brick on hand because Philadelphia Cream Cheese is made with fresh milk and real cream and no preservatives. Nothing else tastes like it!
This recipe reminds me of this bagel bar set up I've done in the past.
I like to create three different types of crostini toppings, which keeps things interesting and ensures there will something everyone enjoys. Let the layering begin! I like to combine interesting flavor combos that will surprise and delight guests.
Ideas for Crostini Toppings
- Cream cheese
- Olive oil
- Balsamic glaze
- Apricot preserves
- Heirloom tomatoes
- Smoked salmon
- Prosciutto
- Fresh herbs like basil and dill
How I Assembled My Crostini Platter
Crostini 1: Thin slice of sourdough, 1 tablespoon Phiadelphia Cream Cheese, drizzle of balsamic glaze (I like that it's a little thicker than balsamic vinegar) two thin slices of heirloom tomatoes.
Crostini 2: Thin slice of sourdough, 1 tablespoon Philadelphia Cream Cheese, 1 basil leaf, small slice of prosciutto.
Crostini 3: Thin slice of sourdough, 1 tablespoon Philadelphia Cream Cheese, 1 teaspoon apricot preserves, sprig rosemary.
If you're having a smaller group of guests, place one of each crostini on plate so that each guests is able to try each of the combos of crostini toppings
If you're having a larger group place all the varieties on a platter.
