- Salt (for rimming your glass, totally optional)
- Fresh limes
- Fresh jalapeños
- Fresh Cilantro
- Sugar
- Water
- Ice
- Tequila

This recipe calls for 3 fresh jalapeño slices (two you muddle in the glass and one for garnish) which makes it pretty warm on the heat scale.
If you don't like too much spice, I suggest muddling only one jalapeño slice in your glass and using a second for garnish.
You can definitely make the simple syrup ahead of time! Once it's cooled, transfer it to an airtight jar (a mason jar works well) and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
The sweetness of the simple syrup balances out the spice from the jalapeños so this recipe does taste better with it.

Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon Sea salt Optional, for rimming your glass
- 1 ounce Fresh lime juice
- 2.5 ounces Tequila of choice
- 1 ounce cilantro infused simple syrup see instructions below
- 3 slices of a fresh jalapeños
Instructions
To make cilantro syrup
- In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of water and 1 cup sugar until sugar is dissolved; Remove from heat
- Toss is a healthy handful of cilantro (stems and all are fine). Let it steep until the syrup is completely cooled
- Strain off cilantro leaves using a mesh strainer so all you have left behind is the infused syrup
To make the margarita
- Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and then dip it into sea salt (optional)
- Add jalapeño slices and simple syrup to glass and muddle so the oils of the peppers are released
- Add ice to glass
- Add lime juice
- Add tequila
- Stir
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh cilantro, a lime wheel, and a slice of jalapeño
Notes
- You can make the cilantro simple syrup up tp a week before. Be sure to store it in the fridge.
- If you're not a cilantro fan, simply omit it from the recipe and just use regular simple syrup, agave nectar, or even honey.
- I like to add a splash of club soda to the top of my margarita. This is totally optional.
