Vodka Soaked Strawberries

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Want to know how to make chocolate covered strawberries even better? Try soaking them in VODKA before you dip them! If you haven't tried vodka soaked strawberries, you're definitely missing out.

Every year I make these vodka infused strawberries for Valentine's Day but honestly, they are always a huge hit any time of the year.

(I made a short video on Instagram showing you how to make them, here.)

How to "Spike" Strawberries

First, rinse the strawberries. Then, place them in a jar filled with your favorite vodka (mine is Tito's). You want to make sure that the strawberries are submerged. Place the jar in the fridge and let them really soak about 4-6 hours.

Tip: Don't leave your strawberries soaking overnight because they will get very mushy.

After they've soaked, remove the strawberries from the jar and pat dry. (Be sure to reserve the vodka. You can make a fun festive drink with it later!)

Next, dip into your favorite melted chocolate (I chose white chocolate with a tiny pink food coloring swirled in). While still wet, dip theberry into your sprinkles of choice.

Toppings For Your Vodka Soaked Strawberries

You could get as creative as you'd like with the toppings. Once you've infused your strawberries and dipped them in melted chocolate, top with one of these for extra deliciousness:

  • Sprinkles (you can match any holiday or occassion)
  • Drizzled Chocolate or Caramel
  • Finely chopped nuts (I like using almonds)
  • Chopped candy (try Reeses!)
Melting chocolate and sprinkles

Once you've decorated, arrange your vodka soaked strawberries onto a cute cake stand or platter. You could even package them up like I did these homemade chocolate hearts and give them as gifts.

Remember that reserved vodka I told you to save from the jar you were soaking the berries in? Shake it over ice and strain it into a martini glass.
YOU'RE WELCOME FRIEND!

Ingredients

  • 12 Large Strawberries
  • 16 ounces Vodka of choice You could even use a flavored vodka like whipped cream vodka
  • 1 Package Melting Chocolate White or chocolate
  • ½ cup Topping of choice Sprinkles, chopped nuts, or crumbled cany

Instructions

  • Rinse strawberries and place in large jar or bowl
  • Submerge strawberries with vodka and place in refrigerator for 4-6 hours
  • Remove strawberries and pat dry
  • Dip strawberries in melted chocolate then dip in sprinkles
  • Let harden and serve within a few hours (may get mushy as they sit)

Notes

  • When making this recipe keep in mind not to soak your strawberries longer than needed in the vodka because the berries will get very mushy
  • These are best left out of the fridge once you make them
  • If you're not going to eat them the same day, place them in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator up to 2 days longer.

So, if I soak overnight they won’t get mushy? The recipe says 4~6 hours.

Can I soak these in alcohol overnight, dry them in the morning then transport them for about 4-5hours in a container and then dip them?

If you're strawberries are no longer red, I wouldn't think you should eat them.

Is soaking them for 3 days too long?

I think they would probably get a bit mushy after three days.

What size of container should be used? How any strawberries can I use? Also, what is the amount of vodka that should be used?

Not really. I would soak them overnight and then take them out, pat dry and dip in chocolate. Enjoy!

Would it be smarter to freeze them after they soak? Or to put the vodka in the chocolate?

It's bought, I believe pinnacle makes a chocolate vodka. But whipped vodka would do well here too. Flavored vodka's can be purchased at almost all grocery stores.
